Bunny the Rescue Cat

Lost in Bunnings Hardware

We all get lost in the giant hardware warehouses from time to time. There’s so much to see. Unfortunately, for one reason or another, this poor little tuxedo cat got stuck for weeks on end. Barely 12 months old, Bunny didn’t like being stuck, yet she also didn’t know what to do. That was until Dash and Elle went shopping for plants in the garden section, and this sweet puss bound out. The hardware boys were in shock because they hadn’t been able to get near her.

A temporary home

A quick trip to the vets to scan for a micro-chip was hindered by her lack of name. ‘Bunny’ was decided on as she was lost in a Bunnings! No chip was found, so it was decided to vaccinate her and find a loving home. The vet then said, ‘o oh’. Bunny was not only lost, she had kittens in her tummy. There was only one thing to do. Keep Bunny in a happy, safe environment till she had her babies. Dash’s desk became Bunny’s favourite nap spot.

A new family

Bunny had 5 adorable kittens, all tuxedos. She was the most attentive and loving Mummy any kitten could find. She watched them grow. Taught them useful skills. Kept them fed and clean. Finally it was time for them to face the world. It made her sad when they found new homes, but she knew they would all be loved and have happy lives. That made her feel better.

Home at last

Everyone thought Bunny would find a home where she could spread her love and adore those around her. And, of course, find time to nap on keyboards. So many people admired her, and thought her ever so beautiful, yet none was able to take her home. Don’t worry, she still got her wish, as she remains living with Dash. And so does one of her sweet kittens. So if a book is late being released, you know whose fault it is.
